Storm chaser

Events

Whiteman’s Valley, Upper Hutt was where the Cross Country Vehicle Club (CCVC) held round 5 of the National 4x4 Trials series on a very pleasant day (Sunday March 8) after a stormy night with ample rain.

The course was laid out with an easy flow and some well thought out hazards to make the 52 starting teams think, especially with a high number of ungraded obstacles to test them.

Long grass and dampness were certainly to have an impact on the first few drivers, with some good water obstacles, bogs and sidlings to test their mettle.

The outcome for the day was Hamish Auret & Paul Barns on 435.29, 2nd – Mitchell Seymour & William Sturme with 472.55, Scott Biggs & Steven Kitchener 3rd on 539.24.

Class C was won by Phil Conwell & Paul Chapman, E Class – Ash Senior & Sarah Gaskin, F Class Dave Hintz & Wayne Weatherly.
